Larimore Associates, Inc. provides field reporting module for Police
Departments.
Chesterfield, Mo.
- Larimore Associates’ automated Field Report Writing System
is almost an exact replica of the main, in-house system’s desktop Incident
Reporting System. The benefit is that the officers will now have the ability to
enter their reports consistently, whether at police headquarters or out in the
field.
A key feature of this powerful module is that the officers
not only have the ability to access federal,
state, and local in-house data from laptop
computers in police vehicles, they also can enter their report information and
transmit the data over the wireless CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data) or RF
(Radio Frequency) network as applicable.
Larimore will assist a department in determining the operational flow necessary
for their department to implement Field Report Writing and then will make the
necessary modifications. This generally requires defining department
operational procedures. This includes determining when final
approval is made, determining which selected personnel will be responsible for
classifying for UCR/NIBRS, and making decisions as to all record types and
master name access that the officer may have in the car.
When
selecting the laptops, many options are available. Ruggedized terminals are an
option that is specifically designed for use in vehicles. The laptops feature
backlit, detachable keyboards for ease of typing, high visibility screens that
may be clearly viewed from many angles - even at night, and touch screens that
eliminate the need for a mouse. The message switch (provided by a wireless
mobile software vendor) serves as a router for messages between the in-house
computer, state agencies and the mobile data computers.
